Carrie Underwood has been busy with a discography containing ine studio albums, one greatest hits album, and 29 singles. What makes this remarkable is that it all began in 2005 after she won the 4th season of American Idol.  Especially when you consider the explosive reception of her first two studio albums.

Early Studio Albums

After this victory and the fame that came with it, she released her debut album, Some Hearts, which became the fastest-selling debut country album in Nielsen SoundScan history. It went on to become the best-selling solo female country debut in RIAA history as well as the best-selling debut album of any American Idol contestant in the United States.

She followed this up with her second album, Carnival Ride in 2007. This album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 charts and sold 527,000 copies in its first week. At the time this made it the best sales week by a female solo country artist since Shania Twain in 2004. And the album was certified platinum four times.

Carrie Underwood’s Legacy 

Underwood has made a habit of highly rated and fast selling album releases. In fact, to date she has sold over 70 million albums worldwide. She remains the best=selling album artist from American Idol with a record of over 16.3 million albums sold in America. On top of this, she’s the top country artist and the fifth highest-certfied female artist on the RIAA Top Artists Ranking. 

She also holds distinction as holding the longest streak of top 10 promoted singles from a career’s start on the Hot Country Songs chart.
